This Catalytic Oxidation system is an EPC general contract by Jiangsu Ruiding Environmental Engineering Co designed for Qingdao Siyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. It is specifically used to treat the volatile emissions produced during the manufacturing process of chemical products and the volatile emissions generated during the loading and transportation of the products.
To meet the emission standards of Qingdao City and minimize operational costs as much as possible, we provide an economical solution for the client. Our company adopts a new off-gas treatment process of "cryogenic + CO," breaking away from the traditional cryogenic plus adsorption technology commonly used for tank area gas. It is specifically used to treat the volatile emissions produced during the manufacturing process of chemical products and the volatile emissions generated during the loading and transportation of the products.
The treatment system can handle 650 Nm³/h of tank area volatile gas + 350 Nm³/h of loading volatile gas. The unit covers an area of 20*10 meters and includes a three-stage condenser recoveree, a reheater, a catalytic reactor, an electric heater, etc. The smoke is emitted in compliance with standards through the combined cryogenic + CO unit.
The project achieved mechanical completion on October 30, 2022, finished commissioning on November 20, 2022, and officially started production and operation in early December 2022.
Theory:
Before entering Catalytic Recuperative Oxidizers (CO), there is typically a heat exchanger to preheat gas containing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
The preheated gas enters Catalytic Recuperative Oxidizers (CO) and is elevated to the working temperature of the catalyst.An exothermic reaction occurs as pollutants are converted into carbon dioxide and water vapor. Subsequently, the clean hot flue gas passes through the heat exchanger, transferring thermal energy to the preheated incoming air, and is then discharged into the atmosphere through a chimney.
By using catalysts with different oxidation temperatures, the inlet temperature is usually lower, ranging from 250-305°C. Heat is released during the oxidation reaction in the catalytic bed, causing the temperature in the oxidation chamber to rise, for example, reaching 300°C, depending on the concentration and calorific value of VOCs. Due to the lower inlet temperature, less energy is required to maintain the oxidation temperature, resulting in corresponding energy savings.

(1) Lowering the ignition temperature, achieving higher purification efficiency, and optimizing heat exchange and heating efficiency lead to reduced energy consumption and overall lower operating costs.
The compact equipment layout structure not only saves on construction and installation expenses but also ensures convenient operation and maintenance management.
(2) Ruiding employs a well-established waste heat recovery system, maximizing the recuperation of waste heat. This approach allows for normal production processes without the need for additional fuel, generating superheated high-temperature steam and yielding substantial economic benefits.
(3) The utilization of a rectangular catalytic reactor by Ruiding enhances convenience in catalyst loading, replacement, installation, and maintenance procedures.
(4) Ruiding's design of Catalytic Recuperative Oxidizers (CO) incorporates catalysts such as palladium and platinum stainless steel metal honeycomb. These catalysts exhibit high activity, excellent high-temperature stability (up to 730 ℃), superior mechanical strength, an extended lifespan (up to 4-5 years), reduced resistance and pressure, and ease of cleaning. This design is adaptable to a wide range of characteristics.
